BurgerFest is a two day festival which if you can’t smell from miles away, takes place at the Exhibition Grounds in Holešovice, Prague. The BurgerFest is the biggest burger festival in all of Europe, and probably one of the only ones is the city. The name basically describes the festival for itself, it is a huge gathering celebrating burgers and BBQ.
Originally established in 2012 by the US Embassy to help Czech people “Experience a slice of America in all its diversity and in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.” The festival is a great place to take your family or friends. With chefs from all over the world trying out different techniques and flavors, stands and trucks are set up where you can watch your food being prepared and taste all the different burgers and grilled meats.
But thats not all! Besides having some of the best burgers to sample, they also have live entertainment, amateur cooking competitions, products for sale, and of course lots of Czech beer. This year the festival is taking place on September 8-9th, tickets will be available for purchase on the day of the event at the front entrance for only 100 CZK (or with the current exchange rate about $4.50).
Jack Daniels remains the main festival partner but other restaurants and celebrity guest chefs will be there representing their burgers and sharing their secrets. Last year alone the goers of the festival consumed over 4,000 kilos of beef, but eating isn’t the only reason to go. Because burgers are known primarily as an American classic, it will be the perfect place for to also check out iconic old American muscle cars and motorcycles which will be on display.
Something most people would not expect to find in Prague, an entire festival devoted to burgers… but here it is. Check out the pictures and videos from past BurgerFests and be sure to attend this years if your into burgers!
