The History of the Brave Czech Nation (And a Few Insignificant World Events) by Lucy Seifert is a big, beautiful coffee table book that seriously says it all. This fantastic book takes you on a whimsical journey into the past of the Czech Republic all the way from how Homo Sapiens arrived in Moravia to the communist occupation on the country.
The book does not have pages per say, but rather one long page that unfolds, pops up and is double sided. One side is in full color, and dives right into what the book is all about, Czech history. While the other side is in black and white and acts more like a dictionary, explaining the definitions of things not only discussed in the book but also many ancient beings, ways of living, and items that are good to know in general.
Don’t think that because this is a pop up book that it’s just for kids, the easy to follow history and breathtaking illustrations make it the perfect history book for all ages. It is also great for anyone who is going to the Czech Republic and would like to learn more about the roots of this magical place.
This rare find makes not only for a unique way to learn about Czech history but also as a lovely work of art on your shelf, or a great conversation starter. Just take a look at the hand painted pages and check out the personality of the characters and some of the fun detail in the pictures below.
