Muchas artwork can be found in many places in Prague including the Municipal House, the National art gallery, and even his design of a stained-glass window in the St. Vitus’ Cathedral in Prague. But their is no better place to go to see Muchas famous art then the Mucha museum in the center of Prague.
The Mucha Museum is the only museum that is fully dedicated to Muchas work, it was created in 1998 by the Mucha Foundation and has a large selection of original Mucha lithographs, posters, canvases and paintings along with the history and timeline behind them.
If you are not familiar with whom Alphonse Mucha (or Alfons Maria Mucha) is, he was an Art Nouveau painter who was born and raised in Ivančice, Czech Republic. Besides being one of the most famous artists in the Czech Republic, he worked, studied, and was invited all around the world to display and create amazing art for nobles and counts.
He also worked in advertising, creating posters for theater shows and different companies, and though he has created many different styles of paintings, he is probably most known for his soft posters of women decorated in marvelous dresses and surrounded by flowers and jewels.
In the museum gift shop they sell miniatures of Mucha’s artworks in the form of wall posters, postcards, notebooks and other merchandise. Make sure to stop by next time you’re in Prague at Kaunický Palác, Panská 7, 110 00 Nové Město, Česká Republika.
