Proverbs and sayings are something that people have used throughout the centuries to describe their feelings and state their opinions. Such short sayings can be funny, witty, and truthful. Some people live by them, while others don’t even realize how much they use them.
Czech people use proverbs just as much as Americans, if not more, but a lot of them don’t really make sense when translated to English, which is why we decided to give you a few English versions of the most popular Czech proverbs.
One of my personal favorites is a typically Czech proverb. It is a statement so simple, yet life changing. My great grandmother used to use it and it has been passed down in our family ever since. “Peníze budou, a my nebudeme.” meaning “Money will be, and we will not.” It is just a reminder to live in the moment and not fret too much about money.
