Today we stepping back in time to look at traditional crafts at the Castle Šelmberk near Mladá Vožice. This was the ninth year for this event and each year it grows more popular and has a greater attendance meaning that people are gaining interest in their history and the old fashioned arts and crafts.
During the event, you can experience how things were made and talk to the craftspeople about the history of each art form. Some are even willing to make you special items on site during the weekend which you can purchase and take away.
The proceeds from this event are then used to further develop the historical craft educational center of Šelmberk.
Historical trades include: blacksmiths, potters, spinners, clerks, carpenters, brníři, bakers, papírníci, kachláři, brewer, gardeners, beekeepers, turners, Lukar, saddlers, cooks and more. .
In addition, you will see swordsmen, falconers, alchemists, jugglers and be allowed to participate in historical games. Food will also be served and you will have to opportunity to taste medieval delicacies, medieval beer, bread baked fresh straight from the medieval ovens and more.
We did locate a couple of videos which are each about an hour long of the international students who are a part of this event. You can view them here, and here.
