Whenever we have Americans over to our house for a meal there is always one thing that they notice immediately and that is that we keep our salt in a small bowl in the middle of the table, not in a shaker, and not in a grinder. To get the salt you need to reach in with your fingers and pinch it.
In Czech this is the only way you will find the salt, unless you are visiting a touristy spot where they are used to Americans. But in almost every Czech families home this is how you will find the salt. Now, most people get a little grossed out when they hear this but that is why we always ask you to wash your hands before we eat…
If you look back through some of our old pictures of food you will notice the small saucer filled with salt somewhere on the table and sometimes you can even catch someone’s fingers pinching in. We use pink Himalayan salt, it is healthier and prettier than normal sea salt. (find similar to what we use here).

Tohle není pravda, za 30 let života jsem toto u nikoho neviděl. Vynález zvaný slánka už holt dorazil i do těch čech.
